FROM KERTÈSZ TO MASSADA

Tamara de Lempicka portrayed herself in painting “Mon Portrait” sitting behind the wheel of a sports car. Her regular facial features, alabaster complexion, and statuesque profile liken the artist to ancient Greek sculptures. She looks strong and seductive in the iconic 1929 self-portrait painting . It is her best-known and most important subject.
The composition was inspired by an André Kertèsz photograph and exudes the bold, colorful Art Deco style for which she became famous.
