MOON is designed around the principles of geometry, tonal intervals, and planetary ratios, with a focus on holders inspired by the proportions between Earth and the Moon—Earth serving as the FUNDAMENTAL base. The holders’ shapes are derived from mathematical drawings that showcase how their forms emerge from the ratio between Earth (1) and the Moon (7/11, a minor sixth).
These same ratios exist in music, particularly in rhythm. Drawing on these proportions, we composed drum sequences based on Fibonacci patterns and pressed them on vinyl as MOON FUNDAMENTAL by MASSADA. The holders and their rimless shapes are pure applications of mathematics, blending design and sound into a unified expression of universal harmony.
Both the music and the holders exemplify the seamless application of pure mathematics, with the rimless shapes of the holders being a direct manifestation of these universal proportions. The musical scale, serving as a repository of numerical tools, unifies the process, where everything exists as part of a greater harmonic scale
